Summary

Emma Makepeace is about to spend the longest night in her life。

She's on her first operation with a shadowy organisation known only as 'The Agency', assigned to track down and save an innocent man wanted by the Russian government。

All Emma has to do is bring him in to MI6 before sunrise, and before an assassination team gets to him first。

But the Russians have hacked the city's CCTV cameras。 There are spies all over London searching for the two of them。 And her target, Michael Primalov, doesn't want to be rescued。

As London sleeps, a battle is taking place on its streets as Emma fights to keep Michael alive。

But what sort of reception await them if and when they get to MI6?

3。5 starsAn enjoyable, fast paced spy thriller that primarily takes place over one very long night in London。 There's lots of action some of which defies credibility。 But that's ok。 Our heroine is a junior James Bond so you've just got to sit back and enjoy the hijinks。 I think there's a Netflix tie in coming and that this is just the first in a series to come。 3。5 starsAn enjoyable, fast paced spy thriller that primarily takes place over one very long night in London。 There's lots of action some of which defies credibility。 But that's ok。 Our heroine is a junior James Bond so you've just got to sit back and enjoy the hijinks。 I think there's a Netflix tie in coming and that this is just the first in a series to come。 。。。more

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 Maybe closer to 3 1/2。 I love spy/thriller novels。 I really enjoyed this but was somehow still hoping for happy ending for Michael & Emma。 I know not realistic or consistent with the genre but I was till hoping。 I didn’t find the ending very satisfying。

Seeing #1 behind the title here makes me happy! I could easily see this as a series, movie, etc。

3。5 stars。 I did enjoy the book and there was action but something felt a little empty and flat but not enough to stop me from finishing the book。 I want to know a little more about Emma and Michael and the "why & how" of getting to where they were when they met。 3。5 stars。 I did enjoy the book and there was action but something felt a little empty and flat but not enough to stop me from finishing the book。 I want to know a little more about Emma and Michael and the "why & how" of getting to where they were when they met。 。。。more

DNF。 Everything started strong, talented author when it comes to hooking readers in with action。 I just can’t deal with another “it’s the Russian bad guys!” Not in 2022。

I picked this up from my library's recommended shelf。 It's a page-turner and not heavy, but it is entertaining。 And always fun to have them traversing London。 I picked this up from my library's recommended shelf。 It's a page-turner and not heavy, but it is entertaining。 And always fun to have them traversing London。 。。。more

MI6, London streets, Russians…The only thing missing is James Bond!

Quick, fun, and compelling spy novel but almost too short? I wanted more…looks like it’s a series so will definitely read the next one to see。 Loved all the London references that I’m finally starting to understand。

。。。more

3。5 stars! A breakneck race against the clock thriller in which a female British spy, Emma Makepeace has 12 hours to deliver her asset across London to MI6 headquarters。 The catch: Russia has hacked the city’s CCTV cameras。 Clever and well written。 Hoping for a sequel!Recommended!

I really don’t read many spy novels, preferring mostly psychological thrillers instead, but I might have to change my stance if Ava Glass keeps writing them。 Thoroughly engaging all the way through I fell in love with our heroine and put off essential tasks until I reached the exciting and satisfying conclusion。 Pick it up, you will love it!

Alias Emma is a fast paced spy thriller set in the streets and tunnels of London。 Emma is on her first assignment with "The Agency," tasked with protecting a man wanted by the Russian government。 But when the Russians infiltrate the agency and take over the CCTV, it isn't clear who she can trust, or how they will be able to get to the safety of MI6 without being detected。 This was a fun and fast-paced read, perfect for fans of Jason Bourne, James Bond, and stories with strong female leads。 I rea Alias Emma is a fast paced spy thriller set in the streets and tunnels of London。 Emma is on her first assignment with "The Agency," tasked with protecting a man wanted by the Russian government。 But when the Russians infiltrate the agency and take over the CCTV, it isn't clear who she can trust, or how they will be able to get to the safety of MI6 without being detected。 This was a fun and fast-paced read, perfect for fans of Jason Bourne, James Bond, and stories with strong female leads。 I really enjoyed the way Emma's background and family history were woven into the story, and I'm always in the mood for anything involving Russian spies! 3。5 stars。 While I read through this quickly and was entertained, I would have enjoyed more character development for Emma。 As others have mentioned, it leaves potential for a series with more opportunity to expand upon Emma’s story。

Story started out very strong with lots of action。 Every time Emma found herself in a situation, I was on the edge of my seat to see how she would get out of it。 The last third of the book did not keep up with the excitement of the first half。 Overall, a good book。 It started out great on all four cylinders but ended as just good。

Alexander Molnar

good story line and good insight into espionage, spying, etc

I really enjoyed this book。 I loved how I got to understand Emma and Michael's individual personalities and who they are as a team。 The action and the twists were amazing it felt like I was on the mission with them。 I really enjoyed this book。 I loved how I got to understand Emma and Michael's individual personalities and who they are as a team。 The action and the twists were amazing it felt like I was on the mission with them。 。。。more

A serviceble, but not especially memoriable, espionage novel。 The plot felt a bit fuzzy to me and there was not much in the way of character development。

What a fast ride! Good characters, and such a young spy is certain to show up again soon--although I do wonder if Emma has trashed her cover forever with this high profile chase。 Although the main plot is heart thumping fast, as Emma and her charge try to thread through the byways of London in order to avoid the hacked cameras that will reveal their locations。 The plot is slowed with frequent backflashes to fill in Emma's history, and the end is mostly afterthought--should have been significantl What a fast ride! 3。5 Interesting concept, but I didn't care if the characters were in peril, nor did I feel they were ever truly in an inescapable situation。 Formulaic。 According to this entry on Goodreads it looks to be a series, which I will likely read as I think over time the faults with this novel will be corrected。 3。5 Interesting concept, but I didn't care if the characters were in peril, nor did I feel they were ever truly in an inescapable situation。 Formulaic。 According to this entry on Goodreads it looks to be a series, which I will likely read as I think over time the faults with this novel will be corrected。 。。。more

I liked this book, but a little bit of “run for your life” goes a long way for me, so I started skimming at Chapter 19。 I didn’t like Emma enough to continue reading the series。

I learned some facts about the underwater ways in London that I didn't know about。 That was interesting。 Overall though, I was not overly excited over the read。 I'll probably try books by this author again though。 I learned some facts about the underwater ways in London that I didn't know about。 That was interesting。 Overall though, I was not overly excited over the read。 I'll probably try books by this author again though。 。。。more

This is a fun read。 Emma is a well developed, totally believable character。 The entire story is very cinematic; I kept picturing the different parts of London as she moved through the City。 If you like an action packed, no time to rest story, this is for you。
